The Alabama Legislature enacted a new set of statutes concerning the enforceability of contractual agreements that restrain trade, such a covenants not to compete or to solicit customers. These measures replace Code of Alabama, Section 8-1-1 which had been the law for almost 100 years. Casey Pipes worked on the Alabama Law Institute Study Committee which drafted a recommendation which served as the foundation for the new law.
