Tom Gaillard and Bill Watts successfully defended a local municipality and three of its police officers in a false arrest and malicious prosecution lawsuit filed in federal court. The plaintiff alleged that he was subjected to an improper arrest and a malicious prosecution while also being involved in a dispute with some of his family members. The plaintiff sued the municipality and these police officers for alleged constitutional violations pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983. Tom and Bill defended the case and obtained summary judgment in favor of all defendants. The plaintiff filed an appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. After briefing all the issues, the Eleventh Circuit issued an opinion upholding summary judgment in favor of all defendants.
