Casey Pipes participates in Panel Discussion at ABA Annual Meeting

Casey Pipes was part of a panel discussion at a substantive breakfast meeting at the American Bar Association’s Annual Meeting in San Francisco. The panel discussion was co-sponsored by the Environmental Litigation Subcommittee and the Condemnation, Zoning and Land Use Subcommittee. The discussion centered on the dividing line between compensable takings and non-compensable legislation in the context of current environmental regulations.

John Leach Elected as Fellow of Alabama Law Foundation

The Alabama Law Foundation elected John Leach as a Fellow in 2007. This honor is given to lawyers who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to their profession and to their community, and it is limited to only 1% of the Alabama State Bar membership.

Alan Alexander Awarded Exceptional Performance Citation by DRI

Defense Research Institute (DRI) Regional Director, Valerie Shea, awarded Alan Alexander the Exceptional Performance Citation at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA). The inscription on the award reads, “For having supported and improved the standards and education of the defense bar, and for having contributed to the improvement of the administration of justice in the public interest.”

Herlong and Pipes Present Paper at ALI-ABA Seminar

Warren Herlong and Casey Pipes presented a paper at the annual American Law Institute – American Bar Association (ALI-ABA) Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation seminar in Miami, Florida concerning the impact a condemning agency’s taking documents can have on its later use of the condemned property.

John Leach Elected to Membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates

John Leach was elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). ABOTA was founded nationally in 1957 by outsanding trial lawyers from both the plaintiff’s and defendant’s bar with its primary goal to preserve the American jury system. Election to memebership requires high personal character, an honorable reputation and proficiency as a trial lawyer.
